A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho was welcomed at the Cyberjaya campus on 6 April 2018, for discussions on furthering collaboration in the area of human capital development.

The delegation from Lesotho was led by Deputy Minister, Honourable Halebonoe James Sets’abi.

“We were very pleased with the warm reception that the University had given us when we arrived, and thank you so much Tan Sri Limkokwing for having us here today,” said Hon. James after the delegation was given a full tour of the Presidential Library.

“We are present here, today, mainly to collaborate and further discuss on ways to enhance the relationship with the University,” said the Deputy Minister, adding that there are important improvements that needs to be done in Lesotho to remain competitive in Southern Africa.

Rebranding Lesotho

“Lesotho is already exporting education, not many people may know, but that is the truth,” said Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr Limkokwing.

The University Founder and President also spoke about how important it is for Lesotho to improve the nation’s branding.

“Rebranding of the nation is pivotal at this point of time,” said Tan Sri Limkokwing.

He also said economic transformation of the country will play a key role, mainly in shaping its stand from “where it is now to where it should be”.

Tan Sri Limkokwing also advised the Deputy Minister to encourage the higher authorities of Lesotho to run programs to train government officers.

“Branding the economy is essential, and to make that happen, the country needs to have a group of elite government officers,” said Tan Sri Limkokwing.
