Head of Enterprise Technology

We are looking for an experienced Head of Enterprise Technology to join our team who will ensure smooth day-to-day operations of ICT. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of IT systems, strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of ICT ensuring that planning, end-user impact, change management, training, quality management are properly addressed and monitored to ensure that deadlines, budgets and service levels are met, and results delivered
  • Ensure that all information systems and networks operate according to internal standards and user requirements
  • Create and maintain Information Technology and Management strategy in line with stakeholder needs and current best practices
  • Manage the relationships with (and between) external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints, and ongoing service is in line with agreed contracts
  • Develop and maintain the Major Incident and Business Continuity plan for IT, and implement measures designed to safeguard the Information Technology and Management needs of the University in the event of major incidents or disasters
  • Manage and develop the Information Management team, working with them to plan and prioritise their workloads, set objectives, conduct appraisals and support to continually improve their performance and results
  • Manage the annual Information Management budget and any associated funds
  • Specifically responsible for the review, audit and prioritisation of all information management tools, including (in partnership with the relevant stakeholders) the replacement cycle of information technology hardware
  • Ensure Information Technology & Management are in line with agreed strategy and policy
  • Ensure that policy and strategy is in compliance with government legislation and standards in those countries in which the University is registered and/or is operating
  • Develop and manage a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and risk management program framework. As part of this framework:
    • Oversee security and risk management awareness training programmes for all employees, contractors and approved system users
    • Ensure security programs are in compliance with laws, regulations and policies
    • Define and oversee the information security risk assessment process
  • Undertake other duties as required

Requirements

  • Proven experience as Head of Technology or similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of systems, software, technologies, communications and suppliers to support business needs
  • Strong communication skills – able to communicate effectively on technical and business issues (internal and external)
  • Solid leadership skills – able to communicate ideas to technical staff, business users and the board with equal clarity
  • Experience of negotiating with suppliers/vendors
  • Ability to recognise business opportunities and present a clear strategic vision of how technology can be applied to achieve success
  • Ability to plan, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Travel across the group
  • Understanding of business, technical and operational risks
  • Understanding of aligning projects to business priorities
  • Understanding of budget management and forecasting
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field
  • Good in decision making, problem solving, conflict management and negotiations
  • Must be able to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects proactively
  • Must be able to meet project deadlines and work long hours, if needed
