The university's industry-based environment means students gets to work with professionals in every aspect. At the Student Gallery, works by the most brilliant of creative minds are highlighted, reflecting the high quality training they receive at the university.
The Design Exploration Gallery is located at the Malaysia Design Innovation Centre (MDI), the professional arm of Limkokwing.
Displays include elegant clothes, attractive samples of packaging, product design creations, bags made of batik, colourful photographs and interior design sketches.
Commercially viable and aesthetically appealing, the exhibits show us how good design can enhance value and content. Most of the products were conceptualized, designed and produced by students from Limkokwing's Faculty of Design Innovation.
An interesting feature is the Evolution of Malay Houses, a pictorial display tracing the development of rural housing. What were once palm-roofed, wooden dwellings on stilts, have now been transformed into modern, concrete houses with congenial amenities.
Also on display is a uniquely-designed, low tricycle that can be pedaled, hand-operated or battery-powered. Vying for attention is a row of traditional Malay outfits, many of which are made of batik and ideal for formal wear.
There are also furniture and paintings depicting batik motifs or patterns. Packaging enthusiasts will also get an eyeful of designs, shapes and colours created for commercial use.
