Limkokwing University held a fashion show at the Bangsar Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur on 13 May 2017.
The ‘Be the Best City Tour Fashion Show’ was organised to attract other aspiring designers and performers to realise their dream.
The event also provided Limkokwing University students with the opportunity to gain industry exposure while showcasing their designs and talents.
“I think it was a good exposure as it enables you to know more about yourself,” said Diploma in Fashion & Retail Design student An-Nur Hazeeqah Mahfuzah binti Husain, who also performed at the fashion show.
She said she felt nervous to perform in front of a live audience at first, but the support from her friends helped her to overcome her fears.
“It was great, and I felt honoured to be able to perform for the event,” she added.
Servenaz Sadat Mehrjan, who is studying Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fashion & Retailing, was able to showcase her designs for the upcoming Ramadhan month, which were inspired by the Indian and Iranian cultures.
“This event was a good opportunity to get people to know you,” she said while adding that it provided students with a platform to step into the industry.
“I hope that after I finish my studies, I will be able to open my own boutique in Malaysia and work as a fashion designer,” she added.
“This experience is good for my portfolio,” added Bangladeshi student Tarannom Khan who is studying Bachelor in Fashion & Retailing. “It will help me later in the future.”
She also explained that the University provided students like her with the opportunity to become more exposed to multicultural environment.
Limkokwing University’s multicultural environment has enabled her to learn new things from other cultures.
“Based on that, you can change yourself for the better,” she said.
Limkokwing University is a multinational institution that provides students with industry exposure. Students gain valuable work experience through the University’s global network and prepare to tackle the challenges of a competitive international environment.
