Think of a broadcast studio at the Olympics, a multimillion-dollar exhibit at an auto show, a display for Sea World, a museum exhibition, a concert stage, or even an Airbnb space — exhibit and experience designers are the hands, minds and souls behind them.

Designers are at the forefront of styling these experiences and ensuring they spark lasting impressions. The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Industrial Design produces graduates who are ready to take on these challenges. Ask Behnam Razaghi and he will tell you that “the exposure, experiences, education and networking built in these past years helped me nurture my thinking and practical skills.”

The Iranian-born always loved, and was inspired and moved by design, innovation, R&D and technology. So choosing this study path was a no-brainer for him.

The programme offers a strong curriculum that covers mainly the areas of product, furniture and transportation design. Here, students develop their creative and technical skills by employing current technologies through a programme supported by business studies, professional practice, consumer knowledge and ethics.

Behnam is the co-founder and the acting Chief Designer and Operations of Ben Raz Millions Resources (BRMR) – a 3D technology specialist.  What started off in an apartment, flourished into a successful enterprise. The company aspires to be the premiere of an all-in-one and fully optimised 3D printers farm – providing a wide range of 3D value added services and supplying 3D hardware to our people – local and beyond.

“I started off doing my 3D printing back in 2018, as a home based project in Cyberjaya, before the COVID-19 pandemic attacked the world in the blink of an eye. In those years, I helped most of our design graduates produce prototypes and offer advice for their assignments or final year projects.”

The industry is expected to grow up to USD35 billion by 2027. “The future of the 3D printing industry seems to be bright as the best solution for faster, cheaper, accurate and easily modified manufacturing and mass production.”

As a tech-forward start-up, BRMR envisioned itself as a one-stop center offering a wide-range of 3D printing services which include 3D designing, modeling, scanning, prototyping, laser cutting, printers maintenance, training and consultation.

The company also produces and sells their in-house exclusive 3D eco face shield. “Going forward, we also want to be a supplier of high-quality and sustainable 3D related products such as 3D printers, its parts, and filaments.”

At BRMR, Behnam is responsible for the business operations from inputs to outputs for customers. “This includes overseeing the day-to-day design, production, R&D process as well as offering consultancy service, 3D printer maintenance, repair and training workshop, if any,” he shares. His other roles include knowing how to handle design software tools and 3D printers as well as knowledge in product designing, reverse engineering, R&D and problem solving.
