On their recent visit to Limkokwing University’s Cyberjaya campus, delegates from Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) were exposed to the creative and innovative culture of the university.

MIDA is the government’s main agency for the promotion of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia. It offers an assortment of services, including the provision of information on the opportunities for investments, as well as facilitating companies which are looking for joint venture partners.

It works with many African investment agencies, including agencies from South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria, assisting them in improving their services, in order to achieve the success MIDA has reached, and to excel in promoting their local industries and attract foreign investor to their countries.

The two MIDA delegates, Deputy Director of Domestic Investment, Wan Wan Noraini Abdul Rahman, and Assistance Director of Domestic Investment, Sharifah Fatimah Sy Mohamed AlHabshi, were taken on a campus familiarization tour. The tour included places around campus that showcases the creativity and innovation the University is known for. One of the places they visited is the Limkokwing Fashion Club store. The store sells merchandise from the vibrant Limkokwing Fashion Club brand, the only university owned clothing label worldwide. The ready to wear student created designs, in the University’s signature black, offers an assortment of versatile pieces with high style and urban flair.

The delegation also visited the Branding Gallery, a creativity archive showcasing a wide range of local products that have been re-branded. It features a wide range of brands, packaging designs and logos developed by students.

It is directed towards assisting small and medium sized enterprises to increase their market value and give the ‘Made-In-Malaysia’ products a competitive edge in the marketplace. Limkokwing University, renowned for its creativity and innovation, works with governments, state agencies and many trade organisations, assisting them in transforming their image and branding package. International trade organisation like the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) have looked to the University for training in effective branding.

The University also has a close relationship with many industries both local and international. Students go on industry projects with prominent companies, and they have a chance to visit world leading companies like Facebook and Google through the University’s ingenious Global Classroom programme.
