There are times when two seemingly disparate industries converge to create something mesmerising. In collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, Vivo Malaysia recently introduced the new vivo Y36 5G Semporna Green model at Limkokwing University.

Vivo’s newest entrant into the smartphone market comes with more than state-of-the-art technology. It comes with a story. The Y36 5G model introduced an exclusive shade, Semporna Green, a tribute to the breathtaking Semporna Island - one of Malaysia’s premier tourist destinations. The Y36 5G model was named after the pristine sea around Semporna, Sabah, one of Malaysia’s main attractions. Such a gesture exemplifies Vivo’s commitment to elevating Malaysia’s profile on the global tourism map.

The event saw 100 attendees - comprising Limkokwing students and photography enthusiasts - eagerly watch the breathtaking pristine beauty of Semporna, taken using the new Vivo phone model.

The Advertising and Digital Director of Tourism Malaysia, Mohd Roslan Abdullah, remarked, “Your dedication to fostering creativity and embracing the beauty of Semporna is truly commendable,” further highlighting the potential of the collaboration to the attendees. “It unveils a remarkable opportunity to enrich your passion for photography and wanderlust.”

Limkokwing students had an interactive experience at the event, including painting canvas bags in a graffiti session and gaining experience through a sharing session from seasoned photographer Yusuf Madi. Transitioning from an engineer to becoming a visual storyteller using a Vivo X90 at the beginning of his journey, Yusuf’s tale was one of passion and persistence.

Raymond Teoh, Vivo Malaysia Brand Manager, expressed his excitement about the new model and the collaboration with Tourism Malaysia, emphasising the potential of the Y36’s photography capabilities. “Vivo Y36 is not only a phone, it’s a world of art. It encapsulates the beauty of our local travel destination, Semporna Sabah,” Teoh mentioned during his opening speech.

Haslinda Hassan, Limkokwing University Vice Chancellor, encapsulated the event’s spirit in her address, saying, “This workshop isn’t about technology. It’s about unlocking your potential, igniting your creativity and opening doors to new horizons.” She elaborated on the seamless blend of education, art, and innovation that the event symbolised. Urging students to let their creativity soar, Haslinda stated, “Take a break from the pressures of exams, let your creativity run wild and connect with fellow students.”

The attendees were then showcased the official Semporna TVC by Vivo and Tourism Malaysia, which was shot using the Vivo Y36 5G Semporna Green model.

Raymond Teoh shed light on Vivo’s decision to host the event at Limkokwing University. “Limkokwing has a history of well-known global leadership in innovations. We wish to work with the students here because they are talented and creative,” he stated. With a primary goal to ignite passion for local tourism and empower attendees to serve as ambassadors, Teoh hopes students will use their newly acquired skills to promote domestic tourism.

A cornerstone of Limkokwing University’s ethos is its commitment to staying abreast of industry advancements. The university is renowned for offering students a relevant curriculum in sync with the latest technological and creative trends. By providing hands-on experience with cutting-edge devices and platforms, Limkokwing University ensures its graduates are well-prepared to navigate and innovate in a rapidly evolving digital world.

The convergence of technology with tourism, exemplified by Vivo’s latest initiative in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and Limkokwing University, underscores the boundless possibilities that emerge when industries converge. As demonstrated by the Vivo Y36 5G, when technology pays tribute to natural beauty, it doesn’t just create a product; it crafts an experience. With this collaboration, young minds are not just being introduced to a phone but to a philosophy: that in the right hands, technology can be more than circuits and screens; it can be art, memory, and pride.
