Limkokwing Swaziland elects new Student Representative Council

Limkokwing University Swaziland introduced its new student representative council (SRC) for the year 2018-2019, in an official inauguration held at the Sidwashini campus.

The representatives will be given the authority to serve as a channel of communication between the student body and the University management and staff.

To ensure a smooth transition, the old and new SRC members reviewed and discussed records and other pertinent documents to ensure that continuity and clarity is maintained.

The outgoing SRC members also offered valuable advice to new members regarding student management details.

Presentations on topics such as conflict resolution, leadership, rules of engagement, accounting procedures and how to engage government ministries were held to familiarise the new SRC committee on policies and procedures of their assigned role.

Present during the handover and election ceremony were senior university managers, representatives from the university elections committee, the student services & welfare office as well as those from the finance office.

Speaking at the event, Limkokwing Swaziland’s Head of Academics, Stella Shongwe, stated the importance of the event and the role it plays in establishing smooth relations between university management and student representatives.

She also highlighted the importance of SRC’s role in making university management aware about students’ concerns.

After Shongwe’s address, there was a recap of the elections and a formal introduction of the newly-elected SRC who were introduced as follows:

SRC President, Sibusiso Simelane;
SRC Vice President Lucky Mkhumane;
General Secretary, Phila Nhlabatsi;
Vice General Secretary, Mncobi Mkhumbuza;
Director of Sports, Bonginkhosi Nhlabatsi;
Director of Academics, Lucky Methula;
Director of Entertainment, Badelisile Mdluli;
Director of Social Welfare, Ntokozo Nsimbini
Treasurer, Wandile Myeni.
