They are the future leaders of the world, the young students and interns of Limkokwing University who responded so quickly to the call to visit several homecare centres in Selangor. They were only too happy to contribute their share to make the Limkokwing Founder’s Day more eventful and memorable.

Led by team leader Shiva Kafil, they were all geared up and ready to move on with the task. The cheerful band headed off to present 118 hampers and 242 Limkokwing T-shirts to the old folks’ homes and handicapped centres.
Although a steady drizzle posed a challenge, the volunteers took it in their stride visiting all eight homecare centres; Sincere Care Home, Wellness Elderly Home Care, Yong Le Centre Sdn Bhd, Pusat Jagaan Orang Tua Seri Kembangan, Wan Hing Home Care (Centre 2, 3, 4), and Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah.

The visit itself was part of a social programme to commemorate Limkokwing Founder’s Day initiated to celebrate the memory and birthday of the late Founder of Limkokwing University, Tan Sri Limkokwing. A well-known philanthropist, Tan Sri Limkokwing always had a caring heart for the ‘forgotten’ elderly ones and handicapped children. These visits only served to perpetuate his dreams to support the needy.

Team Leader Shiva Kafil, an international graduate and a Senior Manager from Iran, described her team as one that truly embodied the spirit of the University and the aspirations of Tan Sri Limkokwing.

“I had the privilege of visiting several old folks’ homes as part of our CSR activities in celebrating our Founders Day. To be able to bring smiles to faces who haven’t had visitors in months, was one of the best feelings I have experienced in my life. The old folks were elated to talk to us and tell us about their children, and their daily activities. Some of them even showed us their garden and the herbs they had planted! It was truly a heart-warming experience to spend time with them and I am looking forward to visiting them again very soon.” - Shiva Kafil from Iran,  Master of Business Administration (Entrepreneurship)

Ahmed Ebrahim Ali Moohialdin from Yemen, studying at the Faculty of Business Communication shared: “I would like to thank Limkokwing University for this wonderful opportunity to visit the old folks homes. As a student in Limkokwing University, I loved this experience very much and felt happy and energetic when I saw the happiness in the face of the old folks!”

And lastly, our Faculty of Creative Technology student, Sabbir Ahamed from Bangladesh said: “It was a great initiative from the University to host such activities which in result help spread awareness in our society and I am grateful for having been a member of the team. It brought me joy to be helpful by spreading our love and care. Special Thanks To Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim and our organising team.”
