Limkokwing University Botswana donated P10, 000 worth of information technology equipment to Nanogang Community Junior Secondary School during the school’s Excellence Awards held on the 8th May at the secondary school in Gaborone.

The event, which was attended by Gaborone South Member of Parliament Honourable Kagiso Molatlhegi, was held in honour of the 2014 top achievers who contributed to the school’s outstanding pass rate of 71 percent.

When welcoming guests, School Head Mosa Kebobonye thanked all sponsors of the event, saying that Limkokwing University’s donation of IT equipments will go a long way in improving students’ education. She applauded the University for its unwavering support for young people’s education, and called for a unification of parents, teachers, and corporate entities in ensuring quality education for the youth.

The University’s donation included computers and other technological devices and inspirational books published by Limkokwing University. The University also awarded the top 9 students each with a Limkokwing University Certificate of Excellence and various Limkokwing merchandise. This donation was meant to promote a focus on quality education among schools, and to motivate students to take their studies seriously, fostering competition among students, and improve young Batswana’s computer skills.

Limkokwing University takes a special interest in education from the grassroot level, providing assistance where needed in order to make the learning environment most conducive. Last year the University undertook a project of building lavatory facilities for an underprivileged primary school in Lesotho. The University has also donated IT equipment to other schools around Botswana; donating specialized computers, a printer, a scanner and a television set worth P20, 000 to Semane Community Junior Secondary School last year.
