Nestlé – the world’s largest and most diversified food company -- and Limkokwing-MDI are collaborating to develop Malaysia as a global hub for the production of halal food. They will also work towards the development of branding and packaging designs and jointly conduct research and development for halal food promotion.
Established in Penang in 1912 as the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, Nestlé Products Sdn Bhd operates eight factories and six sales offices in Malaysia through its headquarters in Petaling Jaya. The company, which was publicly listed on the KLSE on 13 December, 1989, employs over 3,500 workers; it manufactures and markets more than 300 halal products in Malaysia.
Nestlé Group markets over 8,500 brands and 30,000 products worldwide, runs nearly 500 factories in five continents and employs more than 200,000 employees. Its annual budget for product and processing research and development exceeds RM2 billion.
